Summary:
American Infrastructure Maintenance Management (AIMM) seeks a full-time Estimator to support the business development team in developing and analyzing cost and data inputs for infrastructure maintenance opportunities. The Estimator will report to the business development group and coordinate with other business entities, including operations, finance, and accounting. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and energetic, with a strong understanding of finance and operations.

Essential Key Functions & Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation and coordination of the entire project and cost proposal estimates with support documentation required by the Request for Proposal (RFP)
-
Develop bottoms of bid estimates for pursuits, incorporating all cost elements using a data-driven approach. Analyze historical cost data to determine and estimate cost inputs accurately.

Develop high-level, top-down estimates for price comparison and reference.

Perform field assessments and independent asset inventory verification.

Perform full-time equivalent (FTE) solutions and analysis to determine staffing needs while analyzing market-specific labor costs, competitive wages, and demographics.

Analyze historical fleet usage and data to determine accurate operating costs.

Identify and solicit cost-competitive pricing from industry subcontractors for various maintenance activities. Perform vendor vetting and negotiate scope, terms, and pricing.

Research market data and published unit prices for various maintenance activities.

Perform independent take-offs for various maintenance activities while developing self-performance and in-house operations models.

Integrate pricing with technical proposal requirements for bid pursuits and work with the business development team to help develop technical proposal content.

Work closely with operations staff to capture overhead and operating costs.

Developing mobilization schedules and converting bids to operational budgets for new project startups.

Evaluate vital financial metrics for bid evaluation and perform sensitivity analysis.

Provided customer relationship management (CRM) input and updates for pipeline and client management, incorporating client work programs.
-
Evaluate market options for bid estimating and database software and make recommendations.
-
Travel required up to 25%.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Knowledge of elementary engineering principles and standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in highway maintenance operations with the ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and plans.

Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment. Must be able to negotiate, coordinate and plan effectively.

A well-organized, self-directed individual with the ability to provide strong leadership, possess the ability to manage and organize multiple priorities, maintain a significant customer focus, and positive customer service attitude.

MS Office software proficiency include Microsoft word, excel, access, and other computer programs, as needed.

Ability to effectively develop presentations for internal reviews and approvals.

Education, Experience and Minimal Qualifications Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, including engineering or construction.
-
Two (2) to four (4) years of professional work experience in project estimating or relevant fields, including construction, engineering, or maintenance.

Fluent English reading and writing skills to read and understand government guidance for daily work requirements; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, including the ability to develop and use spreadsheets.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Must be able to provide valid proof of Personal Auto Insurance Policy and be listed as an authorized driver.

Must be able to meet the following driver guidelines:

For drivers 23 years old and older: No more than 2 moving violations, 1 at-fault accident; or no more than 1 at-fault and 1 moving violation within the last three years.

Drivers 70 years old and older must provide a medical certificate.
-
No driver may have any major convictions within the last five-year period.
-
For any vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver's License: Drivers must have a minimum of 1 year with appropriate CDL and experience driving similar vehicles to those scheduled.

Drivers must have a valid driver's license for at least 2 years from the date of issue.

Estimator’s tasks will mostly be performed in an office environment, being exposed to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Some of the Estimator’s tasks will be performed outdoors in extreme weather conditions, being exposed to a loud work environment with moderate to high noise levels, being in high places or confined space, drive, stand and walk for extended periods of time, frequently on uneven ground, and must be able to lift up to, but not limited to, 50 lbs., bend, carry, climb, grasp, kneel, lift, pull, push, sit, squat, reach overhead, stand, and twist.
